Improving Hair Quality

Problems with hair such as dry hair, thinning hair or hair loss is often associated with thyroid problems. Hair is really important to our self esteem and so hair problems can really make us feel down or embarrassed. So what can we do?

Many of my clients have found Silica beneficial. It strengthens their hair, thickens it and reduces hair loss. Quickly they can see new hair growth. So try taking Silica 6c for a month and see if it helps you. Silica is a homeopathic remedy. It can be bought from health food shops or from homeopathic pharmacies such as Helios, Ainsworths or Nelsons. You may notice an improvement in your skin and / or nails too.

It is also worth looking at your nutrition. Lacking certain nutrients such as biotin, a type of vitamin B, zinc and selenium will damage your hair. These can be found in foods or you could take a vitamin supplement specifically for hair. A good multivitamin could also help.

Hair products could be causing damage – colouring, dyeing, curling or straightening your hair. These all cause damage and over time could cause thinning hair or hair loss. A good conditioning treatment used regularly will help with this. Or maybe embrace your natural hair whatever that may be!

Stress can cause all sorts of damage to us, sleep, mood, hair, skin, digestion and so on. It is worth remembering that some stress is good for us – it keeps life fun and exciting. But too much, especially over a long period of time, is damaging to our mental and physical health. Depending on the cause, stress can be difficult to manage or reduce. Have a look at my blog on stress for tips on helping yourself.
